Early Life
At the age of 10, Swift began writing songs and singing at karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs around her hometown. When she turned 12, Taylor got interested in playing the guitar when a computer repairman came to her house and offered to teach her how to play 3 chords of the guitar. From that point on, She began writing songs regularly and used it as outlet to help her with her pain from not fitting in at school. Other kids would react badly to her so she wrote songs about them. She had previously won a national poetry contest with a poem entitled "Monster in My Closet" but now began to focus on songwriting. At the age of 13, Taylor moved to Nashville, where she caught the eye of a music producer while playing in the Bluebird cafe. She got signed by Sony records at the age of 14. But then, she was dropped by them and got signed by Big Machine Records afterwards. Here, she released her first debut single "Tim McGraw", which attracted a lot of attention. Her first album "Taylor Swift" debuted at #19 on Billboard Top 200 before peaking at #8. This is when her popularity spread out.
